Volkswagen Polo to hit Indian Market in Early 2010
Volkswagen started its first manufacturing plant in Chakan near Pune in India and plans to put the price tag of 4-5 lacs to compete with the other hatchback cars in its segment like Maruti Swift, Maruti Ritz, Fiat Punto, Hyundai i10, Hyundai i20, etc.
Joerg Mueller, president, Volkswagen India, said: “We will manufacture the small car Polo at the Chakan plant from 2010, and the car would be priced around Rs 4.35 lakh”. Volkswagen Polo is already available in European Market and getting very popular because of its stylish looks, performance, advanced features that are available at low price tag.
Volkswagen Polo will be launched with both petrol and diesel engine option. Its petrol variants will be available with 1.2L, 1172cc and 1.4L, 1399cc choices. Diesel variants of Volkswagen will also be available with two different capacity engine that are 1.4L, 1368cc TDI diesel engine and 1.4L, 1396cc TDI DPF diesel engine.
Volkswagen Polo is a stylish car that will features stylish exterior with body colored bumper, body colored door handles stylish front grille. Its interior is also much stylish with its dual tone dashboard, fabric upholstery, leather covered steering wheel, leather covered gear knob, comfortable and sporty seats.
Volkswagen Polo will feature lots of advanced active safety features like ABS (Antilock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution), ESP (Electronic Stabilization Program) with Hill Hold Control to enhance stability and offer more comfortable riding, dual front airbags with combined head-thorax airbags, Belt tensioners and belt force limiters, Seatbelt warning indicator, Head restraints that counteract the risk of whiplash injury in front seat, 3 rear head restraints and ISOFIX child seat preparation.
