Apple iPhone 4 vs Motorola Droid X – Features Comparison
With the release of Apple iPhone 4, the search for the iPhone Killer has again started. The fourth version of iPhone is faster and sleeker than earlier versions and again other cellphone manufacturer companies are forced to look for its alternative phone.
Motorola DROID, Android powered Smartphone, has been seen as the top contender of iPhone from the day of its launch. Motorola DROID X is the latest version and we are trying to do a comparison of the features offered by the two best phones in the mobile market.
|
Feature |
Apple iPhone 4 |
Motorola DROID X |
Conclusion |
| Dimensions | 4.5 x 2.3 x 0.37 inches | 5 x 2.6 x 0.4 inches | Motorola DROID X is slightly bigger than iPhone 4 |
| Display | 3.5-inch display with 960×640 pixel resoltion | 4.3-inch display with 854×480 pixel resolution | DROID X screen size is bigger than iPhone 4 but slightly less in resolution |
| Weight | 137 gm | 153 gm | DROID is slightly heavy but that’s due to slightly bigger size. |
| Operating System | iOS4 Apple Proprietary | Android 2.1 OS with MotoBlur technology | iPhone OS comes with multitasking and great user interface but still it doesn’t support email-attachments and built-in photo editing feature. However these features are common in Android OS. |
| Multitasking support | Yes | Yes | iPhone 4 is finally capable of multitasking whereas it’s common in DROID earlier version phones also. |
| Memory | 16GB and 32GB options | 8GB internal memory and microSD card support up to 32 GB | DROID maximum memory support is 40GB. Also iPhone 4 lacks a memory expansion slot. |
| Camera | 5 MP camera with LED flash | 8 MP camera with Dual LED flash, auto focus and image editing tools | DROID is certainly the winner in this category |
| Video Conferencing | iPhone 4 comes with a VGA camera for video conferencing | DROID doesn’t have a video call camera | iPhone 4 is the phone to go if you use video conferencing calls |
| Connectivity | Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI and GPS | Bluetooth 1.5, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, HDMI and GPS | Both offers similar features |
| Battery | iPhone 4 battery offers 7 hours of 3G talk time | DROID X offers 8 hours of talk time | Both of them are packed with good power backup |
| Games and Apps | Apple’s App Store | Android Market | Apple’s App Store offers almost 5 times more games than Android Market but most widely used apps are easily found for both OS |
| Price | Offered through AT&T, 16GB@199 USD and 32GB@299USD | Offered through Verizon Network at a price tag of 199 USD | The prices are very competitive and it depends on the network provider you want to use |
Conclusion
Both of the phones are new in market and user reviews will certainly come in few days. However we have seen the reception issue already reported by iPhone 4 users but Droid X is almost similar to its earlier version. Personally, I would go for Droid X for it’s being more features packed than iPhone 4.

iPhone 4 design is not durable and we can see issue with antenna reception also. So I feel that Droid X is better than iPhone 4 but no need to say that Apple is good in marketing that will push iPhone 4 like iPad.
of all the aspects ithink the Apple iphone is going to be the best of all the cell phones
I thought the yellow vertical line issue was a feature of the EVO phone…Along with it’s highly magical separating screen feature..When it comes to building junk….Android does…
I really like large displays, so Droid X is my choice.
I agree. I would go with the Droid X or the HTC Evo 4G before the iPhone 4.
Really nice look of Motorola DROID X! Can I use some important software in DROID X.
Yeah. Droid has a perfect executive look. I love it.
Droid X looks pretty good but iPhone+iOS is still the best Smartphone solution for me at the moment.
It’s amazing how badly iPhone 4 sucks. Apple Fanboys will defend it until the end of time however. I will freely note first off that I have the 3GS, and I bought the 4. I returned it and went back to my current 3GS. It was that bad. It’s hilarious to me what Apple fanboys are saying in forums and blogs all across the web, defending this thing like it’s some sacred gem, pretending all its issues don’t even exist. Ridiculous. Check out the video I made on YouTube about “An Apple Fanboy’s take on Life…”. It’s at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPcQ-cYg8iA
I appreciate the effort of posting some features review, so glad to be informed about this one. Droid X sounds interesting to me.
This is actually exactly what I was looking for. Great comparison overall, although standby time would have been nice too.
hmmm… I prefer the iPhone… well simply because its easier to get the apps that I need with using it. Plus I’ve got great insurance so I don’t really mind the hang ups so much
Thanks for this post….. I like also Apple products.. Apple launches also best and affordable products with best features. I am using a Apple-I pod… Do you know my i-pod working well from 3 years..
That’s a great comparison there. Apple iPhone 4 is definitely much better than Motorola Droid.
I don’t understand! Why everybody is so excited about Iphone? Why ipad is better that a Motorolla for example?. Those mobile are more much more cheapper and they have a lot of extra features. On the Iphone is just nice. People don’t buy them just because they are a trend ask yourself if is realy useful and is the right price. But in this period is all about marketing
Splendid comparison! Droid did sure look good on the table. Well done!
